Dark candlelit interior of Cafe Edinburgh with walnut floors and leather banquettes

High Street, Edinburgh · Since 2014

A corner kept for the unhurried.Stay a while. The High Street will wait.

Three generations of roasting in small batches, poured by candlelight in a room of walnut, leather and brass.

Our story

One copper kettle, a coal stove, and a room behind a tailor's shop.

In 2014 our family began roasting green beans in a cast-iron pan on the High Street. Travellers from Leith and lawyers from the Royal Mile found their way in, drawn by candlelight and the smell of it. A decade on, the kettle still rests on the bar — polished, retired, watching.
